Why manage end-of-life technology?

Like tin, cans, glass and newspaper, unwanted electronics should never end up in the bin. A high percentage of the materials in WEEE, can be reclaimed and put back into the manufacturing supply chain. Also, many older electronics contain harmful substances like Mercury and Lead, and if not handled properly, it could have environmental impacts and cause health and safety issues.

What about security of my private information that may be left on my computer or mobile phone?

We recommend that you remove and wipe clean all data from computers and laptops, SIM cards and other storage devices in mobile phones, digital cameras or digital printers prior to collections. If you are unsure how to do this, check your owner’s manual or contact your manufacturer. We cannot accept liability for any data that remains on an electronic equipment when collected. It is your obligation to protect your own personal information.

What happens to the items once collected?

Once collected, items are shipped to a facility where they are inspected and weighed. They are then sent to an approved processor for dismantling and/or mechanical processing. Hi-tech is used to treat hazardous materials to reduce the harmful impact on the environment, while precious metals are recovered.
